Wolff's Carbon, a graphite/charcoal pencil, and Conte Paris, a charcoal pencil, are my workhorses.
Wolff's Carbon can be sharpened with either a manual or electric sharpener. Conte Paris requires sharpening by hand. I use a razor and sandpaper.
